Alexandra Salome : ウィキペディア英語版 | Salome Alexandra
Salome Alexandra or Alexandra of Jerusalem (141–67 BCE), (, ''Shelomtzion'' or ''Shlom Tzion'') was one of only two women to rule over Judea (the other being Athaliah). The wife of Aristobulus I, and afterward of Alexander Jannaeus,〔That Alexandra, the widow of Aristobulus I, was identical with the one who married his brother Alexander Jannaeus is nowhere explicitly stated by Josephus, who, it is generally inferred, took it for granted that the latter performed the levirate marriage prescribed by the law for the widow of a childless brother deceased.〕 she was the last woman ruler of Judea, and the last ruler of ancient Judea to die as the ruler of an independent kingdom from 76 to 67 BCE. ==Family== Her personal genealogy is not given by Josephus. Rabbinical sources designate the Sage Simeon b. Shetah as her brother.〔Hezser, C. ''(Rabbinic law in its Roman and Near Eastern context )''〕 If this is meant literally and is true, she was the daughter of Setah Bar Yosseiץ Salome Alexandra's oldest son by Alexander Jannaeus was Hyrcanus II who fought his younger brother Aristobulus II in the 60's BC over the Jewish High Priesthood. Hyrcanus II was eventually successful after enlisting the help of the Nabataean king, Aretas III; bribing Roman officials, including Scaurus; and gaining the favour of Pompey the Great who defeated his brother and took him away to Rome.〔See Josephus, Jewish War (1.107 - 155)〕
